EC Training

EC will be releasing equestrian-specific training opportunities in the coming weeks and is moving our programs online as quickly as possible so that coaches may make the most of their time at home.

To help equestrian coaches understand and navigate the EC/NCCP Coaching Program, which was developed in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), NCCP and Sport Canada, EC will be hosting the following webinar:

NCCP Training

The CAC, through its Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives (PTCRs), delivers a number of multi-sport NCCP courses online through webinars and e-learning opportunities. We’ve outlined below which courses are required for each level of the EC/NCCP Coaching Program.

To access NCCP training, Coaches need an NCCP Locker account. If you have previously completed NCCP training, then you already have an account. To verify your account or create a new one, go to thelocker.coach.ca.

Required/Recommended Multi-Sport Modules:

  • Make Ethical Decisions: All coaches working towards EC/NCCP certification must complete this online evaluation as a mandatory requirement. The evaluation can be challenged for a fee or is free upon completion of the training.
  • CAC Safe Sport: The new CAC Safe Sport training will be recognized under the EC Coach Licence as a substitute for the EC Fostering Healthy Relationships or Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders modules. Coaches can access this training for free through their CAC Locker account.
  • Making Headway in Sport: Completion of this module will be recognized under the EC Coach Licence as a substitute for EC Concussions training. Coaches can access this training for free through their CAC Locker account.

Optional Multi-Sport Modules:

The following NCCP multi-sport courses are included on the training pathway for each noted certification level and are delivered online by PTCRs. Please check with your PTCR to learn about any grants or discounts that may be available for coaches completing training during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please note, EC/NCCP Coach certifications have the following equivalents in multi-sport training:

  • Competition Coach = Competition Introduction (Comp Int)
  • Competition Coach Specialist = Competition Introduction Advanced (Comp Int Adv)
  • High Performance 1 = Competition Development (Comp Dev)
